The original length v.Bowls, 8 is an irreplaceable size for the design. Knee-high and peeling to roping head high point waves, the v.Bowls provides a pivotal design in the California alt-quiver. Reworked a thousand times over and too many ways to explain in one caption; The 8 has held its own and keeps providing that addictive and irreplaceable ball-bearing feeling off the back of the board. The triplane variation gives the same super-loose sensation and butter-knife trim, while providing a quicker-planing hull shape. Paddles like a board 1 longer, surfs like a board 1 shorter!
*Essential v.Bowls notes: very foiled and curvaceous, these should be ridden from the back and with loose ankles & knees – jumping and pumping will stop them dead in their tracks and break the flow that they enjoy harnessing to create speed. Unlock the ball-bearing feel with a narrow stance towards the back 1/2 of the board – this is where youll find the v.Bs happy place – drive it from there, arc it from there, trim it from there or forward when the wave stands up, thats the engine room of the design!
8.5 v.Bowls fin center to forward in the box to start; a taller and narrower fin can be used, Volan will net the best feel and result for flex and flow. If the board feels like it is dragging an anchor your fin is likely too far back. If the v.Bowls isnt feeling *extremely* loose, youre still too far forward (youll know what we mean when you get there).
